Title: Rethinking the man question
Authors: L. Parpart, Jane
Marysia Zalewski
Keywords: The machine in the man
Issue Date: 2008
Publisher: Zed Books
Description: In the corporate world, women make up a large fraction of the workforce, a significant minority of professional and middle administrative positions, and a trivially small proportion of top management – where power and wealth are increasingly concentrated, in a neoliberal economy. In 2007, for instance, of the top 200 corporations listed on the Australian Stock Exchange, just five have women as CEOs. That is to say, 97.5 per cent of the top executives in my country are men. Patriarchy seems decidedly resilient.
