Title: The Tagore–Gandhi Debate on Matters of Truth and Untruth
Authors: Bilimoria, Purushottama
Purushottama Bilimoria, Maryville College and Amy Rayner
Keywords: Matters of Truth
Issue Date: 2015
Publisher: Springer
Description: The focus in this book is on the central idea of “Truth” in Gandhi and Tagore’s writings and my questions are generated by the discussion on that subject. I think that there is one aspect of their philosophical outlook which needs more attention than it has received: The presence of the ineffable. One encounters that very often while reading their writings on how they looked upon the world. One may find it baffling, difficult to understand or sympathize with, but an ineffability of Truth, sometimes posited as a divine entity, is too recurrent to be set aside.
