dc.description | This annotated bibliography on Black Populism covers that period most associated with the rise and fall of the agrarian movement at the close of the nineteenth century. Since no movement can be understood outside its milieu, we have also included select items which relate specifically to black/white relations in the South during that time, with special attention to other attempts at biracial coalitions. All items are in English and with few exceptions published in the United States between 1880-2001. With the notable exception of most master's theses herein, all items have been examined firsthand, in order to correct longstanding citation errors. We also hope that we haven't added any new errors! For the sake of brevity and symmetry, we use "black" rather than "African American" in the annotations throughout, but we keep the original wording in the citations | - |
