Although earlier versions of these articles appeared in World Conflicts and Confrontations (2000), all these articles have been substantially revised and updated to meet the needs and interests of readers in a new millennium that has many concerns that are different from the concerns of the recent past. The decision of the editor and publisher to bring out this reference book has been guided by the view that conflicts in the Asian and Middle Eastern parts of the planet have moved to the center of international attention.	en_US
