dc.description | This book grew out of a course, Design and Implementation of 3D Graphics Systems, taught by the authors at the Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA), Rio de Janeiro, beginning in 1997. The course is part of the joint graduate program with the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) in computer graphics. These materials have also been used in recent years in a course for senior undergraduates and first year graduate students in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Calgary. Many students of mathematics, engineering, and computer science have attended these courses at IMPA, PUC-Rio, and the University of Calgary. This book covers computational aspects of geometric modeling and rendering threedimensional scenes. Special emphasis is given to the architectural aspects of 3D graphics systems. The text contains a description of basic 3D computer graphics algorithms, all implemented in the C language. This didactic material is complemented by library routines for constructing graphics systems. The routine libraries, examples, and other supplemental materials can be downloaded from the book’s website: | en_US |
