Description: The purpose of this book is to explore and evaluate the impact of care/case management, on social work practice and professional status in the UK using social theory as a lens through which to understand the advent of care management. In this introduction, I discuss ‘starting points’, first in terms of my interest in the changes to service delivery systems in the recent past and secondly, how I began the research into the impact of care management, the findings of which are presented in Part II. I also discuss the possible audiences for this book and present an outline of subsequent chapters.
