Description: It is axiomatic that every age in the course of history experiences change to a greater or lesser extent. In the twenty-first century, however, it hardly seems an exaggeration to suggest that the world faces epochal changes which affect every part of society, including the arenas in which cultural heritage is made, held, collected, curated and exhibited or simply exists. It is the intention of this book to reflect critically on the relationship between cultural heritage and the impact of these changes, whether they be economic, social, demographic, technological, cultural or in fact a complex intertwining of multiple forces. Further, in this context of a set of dynamic influences that are moulding change at a rapid pace, this study contends that cultural heritage has a particularly important role to play.
