Title: Contemporary Socio-Cultural and Political Perspectives in Thailand
Authors: Liamputtong, Pranee
Keywords: Political Perspectives
Issue Date: 2014
Publisher: Springer
Description: This book has its focus on contemporary Thailand. The volume captures many contemporaneous aspects in Thai society. These are from social, cultural, and economic changes to the current political situations in Thailand. Chapters cover historical contexts to emerging issues in Thai society as well as range from social and public health concerns. The volume also includes issues concerning Thai people in general to those impacting on ethnicity, gender, social class, and sexuality. The volume offers comprehensive discussions regarding Thailand, its people, culture, and society from multiple angles as seen through multiple lenses. Due to a range of diverse issue covered in the volume, it is diffi cult to situate all chapters within a common conceptual framework. Thus, there is no appropriate common theory that pulls the chapters together in this book. I rely heavily on the contemporary perspective as a common theme of this volume. It must be noted that each chapter contains its own theoretical framework to which readers could refer.
